Deirdre C. Brown - Jewelry Artist

I launched My artistic studies with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Design at The University of North Carolina - Greensboro and I began making and designing jewelry in 2003. I started my craft in silversmithing through The Creative Arts Center of Greensboro and I have found my true inspiration through self learning.

I create miniture works of art that are both precious and enjoyable to wear. Each piece is a distinctive contemporary expression of the individual stones or metals. When creating a piece of jewelry, I strive to combine five elements of nature that speak most to me: color, pattern, texture, organic shape and metal. I feel that these patterns, textures and colors to be the ultimate compliment to the human figure and the natural metal enables me to manifest my designs in a medium that will withstand use. In considering the design of each piece and its eventual relationship to a human body, it is important to me that my pieces be functional and practical, with a mindfulness to size, weight, shape and ease of wear.

I enjoy specializing in original jewelry design, working in silver, 14K Gold and 18K Gold, semi-preecious stones and pearls. I work by hand with the metal itself, each piece in The Deirdre C. Brown Collection is individually fabricated, allowing for constant variation of design. I try to express the uniqueness of each individual piece and pass on the joy of owning something truly original to the wearer.

Adorments are personal and special things. They are tactile objects that apeal to the senses and can be infused with emotions and memories. I hope you enjoy my work as I have enjoyed creating it.
